Give Golf a Go

If you’ve been looking for an excuse to try out golf and get the family involved, we have the perfect solution for you!

Ellesmere Golf Club wants to share their passion with you and your family with their Give Golf a Go Day on the 18th of December.  This is bound to be a pleasant day out, especially if you are new to golf or have children that will enjoy a fun day out with new experiences.

‘Give Golf a Go’ is a day to encourage kids and parents to experience golf. There are games and challenges where kids can learn new skills and have a go at smashing balls, hitting targets, and watching golf balls fly! No equipment is needed, and no prior experience is necessary, just show up and have fun, all the while enjoying a fantastic BBQ.

Something to watch out for is their SNAG inflatable driving range which is a portable 13m long range which has Velcro targets which the kids can hit tennis balls at. And what’s more is that there will be spot prizes at the end of day to look forward to.

The inspiration behind Give Golf a Go is the continuation of Canterbury Golf’s “Futures” programme which aims to capture the imagination of young people of all skill levels and background to be active for life, meet new friends, develop valuable life skills, and provide opportunities for families to learn and play together.

And some interesting snippets about the club itself is that it has been running since 1894 and was originally run in conjunction with a horse racing track for the region until 1928! You may even be able to spy some tell-tale signs of its history with some of the holes on the course reflecting its early use of the ground – No.7 “Saddling Paddock”, No.10 “The Mound”, and many more!

So, if you want an ‘un-fore-gettable’ day to find out if golf is your cup of ‘tee’, we suggest you check it out and come along!
