There’s no access road to tackle, instead you send your gear up on a goods lift and enjoy a stunning 40 minute hike to the base.
The rope tows access the surrounding peaks and the terrain is renowned as the home of extreme skiing in New Zealand.
There is plenty on offer for intermediate skiers and riders as well as the adventurous beginner.
With incredible mountain views in every direction, a ski-in ski-out lodge this is an ideal place to enjoy the alpine environment.

Ski Area Package
Temple’s ski and snowboard week packages (6 nights, 7 days) commence on Sunday and finish on the following Saturday each week.
Some are themed to suit certain age groups and all are fun and exciting. You can also stay longer or bring a large group of people to Temple Basin.
Temple Basin is open to kids and families throughout the winter season, you can ski and stay for the entire week or shorter if you wish.
Stay in the lodge with a fully catered experience including breakfast, lunches and dinner. The lodge has a large common dining area with a staffed bar and a separate lounge with table tennis for alternative indoor activities.

Ski Area Package
Escape the crowds and adventure into the Main Divide for a three-day ski snowboard holiday, inclusive of two nights' accommodation.
Temple Basin is well off the beaten track and this package will get up into the mountains and be ready to ski and ride for three days.
It's a one hour walk up to the main lodge from the carpark, with your gear on the gears lift, take some ski poles and hike to the lodge. You’ll be welcomed with the excitement of the snow and terrain on offer.
This package offers: 2 nights' accommodation and all-inclusive food. Remember to bring your sleeping bag and clothing, including ski and snowboard gear.

Day passes from $85 per day or you can use the Chill Pass and/or Temple Basin Season Pass.
Ski Area Package

Ski Lift Pas - $85
Ski Area Package
The course is designed for individuals who spend time travelling in an alpine environment, outside of ski area boundaries, but have little or no experience with the avalanche phenomenon. The course focuses on defining avalanches, understanding and interpreting the NZ Avalanche Advisory and weather forecast, personal preparation, route decision-making and rescue skills.
Venue: All courses are hosted at Ferrier Lodge at Temple Basin Ski Field, located above snowline, approximately 500m above Arthurs Pass proper. The lodge is warm and features hot showers, a bar, and plenty of indoor learning space when the weather is too inclement outside.
Cost & Booking: $640, which includes the course, accommodation Friday & Saturday nights, and all meals from dinner on Friday through to lunch on Sunday. Lift tickets not included ($85 per day).
Dates: 2-3 August, 9-10 August, and 13-14 September
Ski Area Package
The course will give you the tools and knowledge required to make basic decisions on your own, and make you aware of how to increase your knowledge in the future. This course can also help if you’ve been into the backcountry a few times and want to solidify what you do and don’t know.
You should be relatively fit for this course, with previous hiking and trekking experience. You should be at least an intermediate skier/rider, capable of descending most ‘black’ rated terrain.
Cost & Booking: $640, which includes the course, accommodation Friday and Saturday night, all meals from Friday night to Sunday lunch, and all instruction. Lift tickets are not included ($85 per day).
Dates: 16-17 August, 23-24 August, and 20-21 September
Ski Area Package
The course will suit those who have a basic understanding of avalanches (Avalanche Awareness) and have spent time travelling in alpine terrain as part of tramping trips, hunting, mountaineering, skiing, snowboarding or other outdoor experiences. It is not for beginners entering the alpine environment. A reasonable level of fitness is highly recommended.
Completion of this course will leave you feeling more confident in your ability to make safe decisions while travelling in the backcountry. It will give you the confidence and knowledge of how to seek out further information to further your knowledge on your own.
Cost & Booking: $1600, which includes all instruction and course materials, and all accommodation and meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) beginning with dinner the night before the course begins, and ending with lunch on the final day of instruction. Lift tickets not included ($85 per day)
Package Dates: 4-8 August, 18-22 August, and 8-12 September
Ski Area Package
This course is ideal for you if: You are a strong intermediate to advanced skier/rider and want the necessary safety skills to begin exploring remote locations, including glaciated terrain, on skis/board.
Course content/instruction topics: The course will focus on route finding and safe travel techniques, while improving your level of comfort at elevation under various snow conditions- with trip planning, navigation, uphill skinning technique, terrain analysis (avalanche awareness & travel around crevasses), and mountain weather & forecasting. Safety techniques such as avalanche rescue, emergency shelters & snow caves, will also be covered, basic anchors techniques, crevasse rescue and abseiling will be covered if time and group experience allow.

$1700, which includes all meals from Sunday evening through until Friday lunch, accommodation from Sunday through Thursday nights. Lift tickets not included ($85 per day).
