Murray Brothers Review: Where to stay on a MTB trip in Selwyn

Porters Lodge

Porters lodge Is located 5km up the ski road from the highway. Jake runs the lodge and with his background as a chef he does an excellent job with the gourmet food on the menu.

If you just want a self-catered bed, it costs $25 but the most exciting option is the $100 deal in which you get three shuttle uplifts, a meal and bed. Porters also have full amenities, hot showers, licensed bar and of course the kitchen/restaurant keeping everyone fed and happy.

With the Porters Flow Trail on the doorstep, it’s the perfect spot for a ride, beer and chips in the evening. If you want to push the boat out a little further, an overnight getaway and some shuttles on the Enduro trails with family or friends is just what the MTB doctor ordered.

Forest Lodge

The Forest Lodge is run by Sam and located 6km from the highway up the Cheeseman Ski Road (just up the road from Texas Flat). It’s surrounded by beech forest and the trails start right on the doorstep.

The lodge is self-catered and can be rented out in its entirety for functions. It sleeps 38 people and is $900 per night. Otherwise, you can rent entire six bunk rooms for $180 or just a bed which costs $35 for adults or $20 for children.

It’s hard to beat finishing a day of riding with a hot shower and a beer on the deck admiring the mountain views.
