About Temple Basin

Distance from Christchurch Airport: 147km, approximately 2 hours to car park

Located in the heart of the Southern Alps in Arthur’s Pass National Park, Temple Basin offers a mountain experience like no other.

There’s no access road to tackle, instead you send your gear up on a goods lift and enjoy a stunning 40 minute hike to the base.

The rope tows access the surrounding peaks and the terrain is renowned as the home of extreme skiing in New Zealand.

There is plenty on offer for intermediate skiers and riders as well as the adventurous beginner.

With incredible mountain views in every direction, a ski-in ski-out lodge this is an ideal place to enjoy the alpine environment.
