Porters Ski Field is the closest on-snow experience to Christchurch and has something for everyone!
For beginners and kids the dedicated learner slope has gentle runs, easy sunkid carpet and platter lifts.
Those more advanced can enjoy the long cruising runs by taking the Easy Rider chairlift and three T-bars to the top. For the more adventurous there's challenging terrains and a freestyle park. A fleet of rental equipment is available for hire and a range of professional lessons available.
Porters Lodge at the base of the mountain provides lodging as well as a fantastic restaurant and bar. Enjoy a dedicated snow play area adjacent to the lodge for tobogganing, the perfect setting for a family adventure.

Smylies Tours: Snow Holiday
Ski Area Package
Join Smylies Tours on a school snow holiday tour, featuring two days of skiing and fun at Porters Ski Area!
For $645 per person, this package includes 4WD transport from Christchurch to Smylies and Porters, lift tickets (for youth), ski or snowboard rental with boots, warm ski clothing if needed, a beginner's lesson, and help on the mountain.
You will also enjoy 2 nights lodging at Smylies, with two dinners, bed, and breakfast provided.
Designed for high school students, this tour ensures you are well looked after with transport and a local guide. If you are not a high school student, prices will vary.
Pickup is at 5-6PM on the first night for dinner at Smylies, and you'll return to Christchurch by 5:30 PM on the last day of skiing.
Family Stay at Porters Lodge
Ski Area Package
Escape to the mountain this winter with our unbeatable Stay at Porters Lodge, ideal for your family or friends. Porters Lodge is located on the access road to Porters Ski Area or is located next to the snow play and toboggan area so you can let your have a fun on-snow experience.
There is bunk style accommodation available, booking suited for a group of up to six. The lodge has a fully licensed cafe, bar and restaurant.
Cost: $199 for up to six people in a shared bunk room. Choose from either a Family Double Room or Family Single Room.
