Experience stunning views in fine weather from a more gradual track than most alpine tracks around Arthur's Pass village.
This is a more gradual track than most of the alpine tracks and climbs gently up Bealey Spur through mountain-beech forest to expansive views of the Waimakariri River valley and surrounding mountains.
It’s well marked and is suitable for reasonably fit people who are well-equipped. The track ends at the historic Bealey Spur Hut.
Note this is an alpine environment so be prepared for weather changes.
Start at the car park on SH 73, near the Bealey Hotel and at the entrance to the Bealey Spur village. From here follow markers up Cloudesley Road.
This is a Department of Conservation tramp.
4–6 hours, 12km.
