About Craigieburn

Distance from Christchurch Airport: 106km, approximately 1.5 hours

Craigieburn is known for the epic range of terrain, quick tows, uncrowded runs and friendly club members.

The ski area straddles two distinct ridge lines and valleys. Whakamaru Day Lodge sits on a ridge overlooking Middle Basin and Hamilton Peak, providing possibly one of the finest views of any alpine building in New Zealand.

Getting there is straightforward with a 6km scenic drive after turning off from the highway that is usually suitable for a 2WD with chains.

The lodges Koroheke and Matuhi are nestled in the beech forest, the perfect setting to enjoy the famous Craigieburn hospitality.

Facilities

Stay on the Mountain

Craigieburn has two lodges – Koroheke and Matuhi nestled away just below the tree line.

Relax right beside the slopes with spectacular views across the valley.

Facilities include a licenced bar and chef's kitchen, drying room, lounge area and sleeping facilities. Accommodation includes dinner and breakfast.

Craigieburn operates completely independent of the electricity grid, working hard to conserve electricity and minimise their carbon footprint. Power is generated by diesel, hydro and solar energy and heated by a boiler.
