Arthur's Pass

Nestled in the heart of the highest and most spectacular pass across the Southern Alps is the Arthur’s Pass Village. Climbing to breath-taking heights of more than 900 metres and within one of Canterbury’s National Parks, this is a place not to be missed.

On your way through the mountains make Arthur’s Pass your stopover for a bite to eat. With a great selection of cafes and shops, take in the spectacular views of the snow-capped Southern Alps.

If you need to stretch your legs, take in the scenic views by walking one of the trails Arthur’s Pass National Park has to offer. Ranging from a few hours to a few days, there is something for everyone. Stop in at the Department of Conservation Information Centre and have a chat with their friendly staff for more information.

If you love the atmosphere here, the village has a choice of accommodation including the Bealey Hotel just a hop, skip and a jump away from the stunning panoramic views Arthur’s Pass has to offer.

The area is home to the Temple Basin Ski Field, offering great snow and fantastic conditions that draw in snow bunnies from all corners of the world. High up on the Main Divide you can stay in a comfortable lodge with an on-site award winning chef.
