Day One – Darfield to Wilderness Lodge
- Time allowance: approximately 8.5 hours from Christchurch
- City to Darfield: 45 minutes
- Airport to Darfield: 30 minutes
Travel to Darfield village and enjoy breakfast at The Fat Beagle. Continue on your journey along the Inland Scenic Route to Springfield and take a photo at the Springfield Donut.
Enjoy driving through the beautiful high country for a unique, tailored horse trek with Rubicon Valley Horse Treks. Lunch is provided and upon your return, experience the thrill of a jet boat ride with Alpine Jet Thrills.
Stop at Castle Hill for a self-guided walk through the limestone rock formations before making your way to Wilderness Lodge for dinner and accommodation for the night.
Day Two – Wilderness Lodge to Gunyah Country Estate
- Time allowance: 6–8 hours
After a leisurely breakfast at Wilderness Lodge, travel along the inland scenic route to Arthurs Pass and explore this small alpine village. Take a short walk up to the stunning waterfall on Devils Punchbowl Walking Track and finish with a coffee at the Wobbly Kea.
Continue on your drive to Middle Rock Farm and experience first-hand, life on a high country sheep station with a farm tour, lunch is included. Finish your day with dinner and accommodation at Gunyah Country Estate.
Day Three – Gunyah Country Estate to Christchurch
- Time allowance: approximately 7.5 hours
Wake up in the stunning Gunyah Country Estate at dawn and take a short twenty minute drive to experience hot air ballooning with Ballooning Canterbury. Take part in a magical flight offering panoramic views across Canterbury and upon landing, a glass of champagne and refreshments.
Drive to the boutique winery Melton Estate for a fabulous wine tasting and delicious lunch.
Complete your trip into Christchurch city or head to the airport.
