Peak Hill is a popular high-country walk near Lake Coleridge, offering spectacular views from its 1240m summit across the lake, surrounding mountains and Canterbury plains. The track begins from Algidus Road, around 9km past Lake Coleridge Village, following a marked easement across private farmland before climbing steadily into the Peak Hill Conservation Area.

Although only 3km return, the walk is steep and exposed in places, making it best suited to fit walkers and experienced trampers. The summit rewards visitors with sweeping alpine views and classic Canterbury high-country scenery.

Weather conditions can change quickly, so sturdy footwear, warm clothing and waterproof gear are essential. Please note dogs are not permitted on the track.
