At Ortel Gardens, plants are our passion. Our ever-changing garden celebrates each season with renewed colours and textures, creating stunning spaces that bring together nature, art and design.

As a lifelong plant enthusiast and member of the New Zealand Alpine Garden Society, Suzanne has a special love for alpine plants, woodland treasures and delicate bulbs. Trough and pot gardening, sand beds, and handmade hypertufa planters bring these small wonders to life, creating charming displays perfect for any space.

Set within a large, diverse garden featuring a native arboretum, rose beds, ponds and more, Ortel Gardens now includes a small specialist nursery. Inspired by a desire to keep rare plants in circulation after Hokonui Alpines closed.

The nursery offers petite unusual, carefully grown plants ideal for rock gardens and troughs, unusual perennials and kusa bonsai, along with a few curated garden products and Japanese tools.
